| Oriskany Museum, Oriskany New York |
We are currently creating a new website for Oriskany Museum and USS Oriskany
Reunion Association. This site is running at oriskanymuseum.com and is listed in Google
and aol near the top of the list, and on other search engines as well. Google is the easiest to find so far. The
new website is very much like this one, with information about the museum, USS Oriskany reunions, officers, village of Oriskany
NY and a gear locker. The site you are currently reading may cease to exist soon, so try out the new site. Also,
there are several excellent sites about the carrier written by shipmates - try them out too! On this and the following pages, we wish to acquaint you with the Oriskany Reunion Association and the Oriskany
Museum, tell you the history of the carrier and where she is today, tell you of USS Oriskany logo items for sale and how you
can obtain them, keep you informed about the yearly reunions, and most importantly, how you can become a member of the ORA!
This website has been available for several years and has generated many new members as well as revenue for the
museum through sales from the Gear Locker.

The museum houses a very large collection of artifacts, photos, clothing, and memorabilia from shipmates
of the USS Oriskany. There are folders of clippings and paper documents given by shipmates, there are folders
of information about the ship. We have a large collection of cruise books and photo albums. There are many
small artifacts from the ship acquired during working parties, and outside we have the starboard anchor, the ship's bell and
an A4E Skyhawk like the type which flew off the deck. In addition to USS Oriskany memorabilia, the museum has dioramas telling
the story of the Battle of Oriskany. There is a large section containing memorabilia and artifacts from
the village of Oriskany and its inhabitants. The current building was completed and dedicated in 1997 and
its first curator was Robert Heeley. We receive visitors from all over the US, many of whom were shipmates or family members.
We host educational functions and have about 1000 visitors a year. The museum collection was begun by the Battle of Oriskany Historical
Society in 1966 and the society continues to hold meetings and care for the artifacts.
