Mission Statement of the Oriskany Museum

Organization Purpose

To appreciate and continue the work that has been done by the Battle of Oriskany Historical Society, former museum curator Mr. Robert Heeley, the Village of Oriskany, shipmates and families of the USS Oriskany CV-34 noting Captain John Iarrobino, and all who have contributed in any way to establish and maintain Oriskany Museum.

To maintain the purposes and objectives set forth in the bylaws, Article II of the Battle of Oriskany Historical Society.  "The purposes and objectives of this Society shall be to preserve a proper place in history for the momentous events in and concerning the Battle of Oriskany which have taken place in this vicinity; to promote suitable memorials thereto; to conduct educational programs and encourage general participation therein; to record the growth and history of the Village, and in general do all things usually done by Historical Societies." 

To pursue new ways of obtaining funding for the museum.

To carry on an active program of marketing the museum.

To study programs and activities in other like museums, to develop a list of resource people, and network with other communities across the United States who share common goals and interests.
